On June 18th, 2015, HIP attorneys Gregory Cromwell, Jennifer Hill and Peter Wilburn spoke at the annual Board of Directors Training Seminar hosted by Around The Clock, Inc. at the Kent Senior Activity Center. The event was well attended by nearly 60 Board members from local condominium and homeowners’ associations and was intended to acquaint them with their many duties and obligations as directors. Peter spoke about the nuances of using receiverships and Sheriff’s Sales to recover from delinquent homeowners, as well as how to adopt governing document provisions to regulate rentals within a community. Jennifer provided an update on recent Washington caselaw and statutory changes affecting community associations and led lively discussions regarding parking/towing, ADA applicability, and service animals. Greg concluded the evening by addressing the duties of Board members, architectural control committees, Association website privacy, risks of Board waiver or non-use of remedies, and nuisance law issues. We’d like to thank all of the attendees for their participation and thought-provoking questions, and Around The Clock, Inc. for hosting such a great event and for including us in the educational component of the evening!
