Hanis Irvine Prothero hiring Bilingual Legal/Office Assistant

The Immigration Department of Hanis Irvine Prothero, PLLC in Kent, Washington seeks to hire a full-time bilingual Legal and Office Assistant. This position will provide administrative support to the attorneys and paralegals managing a high-volume caseload of all types of immigration legal applications. This position requires substantial direct client interaction.

Duties

Handle department phone calls forwarded from the receptionist

Schedule and confirm all attorney appointments and consultations

Track and enter all mail into department computer systems

Prepare client correspondence

Open and close all case files

Assist with client billing following internal accounting procedures

Translation of client documents from Spanish to English and English to Spanish

Prepare client records and FOIA requests to state and federal courts and agencies

Prepare immigration forms and applications packages

Requirements

Fluency in Spanish is required (written and oral)
Strong organization and attention to detail
Ability to multitask and manage heavy case load
Ability to meet strict deadlines

Computer literacy
Strong work ethic

Associate’s or Bachelor’s Degree preferred

1-2 years of prior experience as an Immigration Legal Assistant preferred

Although we prefer applicants with prior experience working in an immigration law firm, we will consider entry-level applicants with other office experience who have a genuine interest in immigration issues and a demonstrated aptitude for learning new tasks quickly.

Immigration Attorney Mary Beth Leeper speaks at Pacific Lutheran University

On Thursday, October 2, Mary Beth is speaking at Pacific Lutheran University to students and alumni as part of the university’s homecoming festivities. Her speech will focus on faith and vocation; specifically, how people of faith discern a call to vocation. Mary Beth graduated from PLU in 2000 and was named PLU’s Recent Alumnus of the Year in 2012. The event is held on campus in the Scandinavian Cultural Center from 6:30 to 8:30 PM.

August 27, 2014 – Hanis Irvine Prothero is pleased to announce that Florian D. Purganan has become a Partner of the firm. 

Florian (“Ian”) joined the Immigration Department of Hanis Irvine Prothero as a Legal Assistant in September 2004 and became an Associate Attorney when he passed the bar exam.   

When Ian began his career with HIP, the Immigration Department of our firm had just one attorney and one legal assistant.  His contributions over the years helped grow the department to 9 full-time employees.  Throughout his tenure at HIP, Ian has actively participated in Filipino, legal, and community organizations. 

HIP is proud to recognize Ian’s contributions to the firm and to our local community.  Florian will continue to practice exclusively in Immigration and Citizenship Law.

Attorney Meghan Kelly-Stallings attends the 2014 AILA National Conference

 

June 17, 2014 – Associate Attorney Meghan Kelly-Stallings attended the 2014 National Conference of the American Immigration Lawyers Association (AILA) in Boston, MA.  The four-day conference included tracks on family-based and business-focused immigration law, as well as removal defense and trial advocacy. Later this month, Meghan will give a presentation on what she learned at the National Conference to members of the Washington AILA chapter.
